The National Weather Service office in Little Rock issued an extreme heat warning through 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24, for a region that includes the Arkansas Tech University campuses in Russellville and Ozark.
The warning advises that anyone outdoors during the hottest portions of the day is subject to negative affects without “effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.”
A related advisory from the National Weather Service suggests that Arkansans in the warned areas “consider canceling outdoor activities during the heat of the day.”
Daily high temperatures are expected to be near 100 degrees and the heat index may reach or surpass 110 degrees in the warned area during the week of Monday, July 21.
