NPower, a national nonprofit helping underserved young adults and veterans break into the technology sector, is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 cohort.
The training takes 20 weeks to complete, and it’s all online. All of the tuition-free courses equip you with the necessary skills and tools you need to jumpstart your career in technology and digital media.
For recent graduate Angelica Velazquez, NPower’s program proved to be life changing. After dedicating 17 years to being a stay-at-home mom, she never imagined she’d find herself working as a Systems Analyst in Houston’s growing tech sector.
“I really thought it was probably too late to get anything without going to school,” Velazquez shares. “But NPower showed me you can start at any age.”
While the program’s fast-paced curriculum can be challenging, NPower provides comprehensive support every step of the way. Students receive not only technical training but also crucial career development resources, like resume writing assistance and mock interviews—which was transformative for Velazquez.
“That mock interview, for me, it changed my life,” she explains. “That’s where I met one of the vendors, and I actually got hired by the same department that vendor worked for,” Velazquez said.
Starting with about 40 Houston-area students per cohort, the program creates a unique local community of learners. “What made it cool about that is that we were able to get together and form study groups,” Velazquez said.
For those wondering if they have what it takes, Velazquez’s message is clear: “Hey, it’s never too late, you know? As long as you put your mind to it, and you’re dedicated, you can get what you’re looking for.”
